Since I was in a sewing mood, I decided to make a small container for holding silverware in my RV. Ayumi, from Pink Penguin blog has a tutorial which I followed to whip this up in an afternoon. I will be making more to put in the drawer of the RV. It will keep things from rattling while traveling on the road.

Valentine mini tote bag

I took some time to make a mini tote bag for my 3 years old grandson. I stitched a Valentine motif and made a tote bag from an old blue jean. The designer is Sandy from SanMan Originals. The bag is sturdy enough to hold 2 Kinder Surprise Chocolates and a small bag of "Kisses" Hershey chocolates.

My DH says my grandson can help his mother go grocery shopping and carry a few things in his own personal bag when they go shopping together. LOL

Southwest eyeglasses case

Two more eyeglasses cases. The one on the far right is for my sunglasses. It is also part of my past RR that I did. I did not need to have a closure on the inside or a tassle as the sunglasses is thick and will stay inside the case without slipping out.

The one of the left is a gift for my friend's birthday. I used a snap inside the case instead of a tassle like my first previous one.

Southwest eyeglasses case

I was involved in Cross Stitch Round Robin group a couple of years ago and we did a mini-RR which means u stitch under 40w X 40h. My theme was southwest design and both Vicky and Mary did their part on my RR. My creative juice was in overdrive so I decided that I needed eyeglasses case since I have so many in my purse. Not all of them have their own case so some were getting scratch. I decided to use my southwest design and turn it into a case from my sewing pattern that I have in my stitching bin. I couldn't find my velcro to use inside the case so I searched for a chili button and stitched it beside the coyote and made a tassel to secure the opening so the glasses doesn't slide out. I have another set of southwest designs so I think I will make another one for my sunglasses.

Disney Mystery SAL

I am in the Disney Mystery SAL with Becky which means I am given a chart to stitch onto any choice of fabric and finishing. Since Lumpy has pastel thread colors, I decided to stitch onto a Charles Craft baby bib. I will stitch other Disney characters on both sides of Lumpy eventually. This is also a monthly SAL at the beginning of each month.

I decided to stitch my collection of Navajo rug stockings. The bottom will have to be frog and start over because I mis-counted and had three rows too many. The far left is what I am working on until I am ready to re-do the bottom stocking. The two upper right stockings are finished. I am debating to use felt on the back of the stockings when finished.

I finally decided to make it into a pajama bag for my RV since we travel during the summer. The bag says "back on the road again". I made another pajama bag for my DH using travel signs fabric in the States.

Mitten motifs for wicker basket

I am stitching motifs for 3 wicker baskets. My grandson is almost 3 years old so I needed to stitch motifs of what is inside the wicker basket. This one will have mittens only inside. (Photo on the right) The second one will have a scarves only motif and the third one will have toques only motif. He will be able to take the basket from the shelves to get what he wants without taking all of the basket down and dump them on the floor to find what he wants.

Bath hand puppets for grandson's Christmas presents. There are 10 different characters. So far, I have done ladybug, frog, lamb and bear.

I am struggling with my stitching ability on the sewing machine. I think it is because I am still new to appliques on terry cloths. I found out that I was supposed to use a stabilizer cloth underneath the terry cloth when stitching appliques. But the fusible web underneath the nose, eyes, mouth, etc is causing my machine to tangle the threads so I ended up hand stitching around those areas. I am self-taught and I thought I needed to broaden out my stitching ability. Back to my favorite hobby which is more relaxing on my nerves.....cross-stitching!

I just finished my "Space Robot" from the World of Cross Stitching, Issue #180, page 33 for 4 grandsons. I made the pajama bag out of space ship material into a drawstring bag. The lining is solid color of their favorite color and each boy has their own initial letter on the gift tag to put outside of the Christmas gift wrapping when ready. First I have to buy new pajama to put into their bag, then I am ready to wrap them up. Next project will be to figure out what I want to stitch, make or to get for my son and DIL.

I stitched during the stitching get-together at Quadra Island last weekend. It was a great experience and I got to meet the ladies that I have been in contact with for many years in our Canadian cross stitching yahoo group. Our next stitching get-together will be in New Brunswick in 2014. We are all looking forward to that new adventure.

This is the beginning of my stitching "Meerkat Standing". It is a joy to stitch because Yiotas provided threads already wrapped in bobbins so there is no sorting to do before starting the stitch. This prevents the guessing of which color represents which symbols. I really appreciate that since my eyes are not as great as they used to be. The chart is in large print and very easy on my eyes too. There are no fractional stitches nor backstitching to stitch when done. She also provided DMC threads conversion for the threads that came with the kit. I am really looking forward to watching this meerkat develop as my needles continue to stitch.

I am thinking of making it into a oblong tube with elastic on the bottom and a loop to hang it up. I will either put plastic bags from the grocery store to store it and use when needed or put my socks in and hang up in my RV. It will give me more space to put my clothes into drawer and this will keep all of my socks together in one tube.

I decided to switch over from 25ct to 28 ct 2 over 2. It will be 56"H by 46" W when done. My eyes were becoming sore and I think I was straining them after stitching over an hour on 25ct one over one. The last straw was when I made an error and I was unable to frog the thread without damaging the fabric on 25ct. I am enjoying stitching on this fabric so far.

My mother has asked me for a bookmark for Mother's Day. I have been searching for the ideal design for her bookmark. I decided to stitch a meerkat since we both like "meerkats". I pulled out my chart from my stash bin and I have been stitching since this morning. The fabric is 28ct white, evenweave using DMC threads. I have to stitch from the top to bottom due to the factional stitches, squashed stitches and middle X stitch, etc....so to avoid making mistakes, I do each row at a time. I hope to finished this before the end of April.

I finally decided to make this into an ornament with stuffing inside and sewed around it to give it some depth. I enclosed a red bias ribbon as a hanger to hang on the tree. The back of the ornament is stitched with backstitching " SanMan, the year 2011 and my signature". This is stitched on 25ct, 2 over 2 with DMC threads. I had thought it was 28 ct at first and then I realized that the fabric is one of my leftover from stitching one of my HAED design.

15 sided biscornu SAL

I just finished my 15 sided biscornu. This is not easy to do since the squares are only 16w X 16h and I had to figured out how to stitch the middle row. I made some errors and then had to re-do the middle row again but once I figured it out, the rest became easy to do. The blue button on top of the biscornu is the top and the red button is the bottom of the biscornu.

15 sided biscornu SAL

This is a 15 sided biscornu which I am stitching in a SAL with another group. I am stitching on aida using DMC threads, 3809 and 4200. This is my progress so far.

"Winter Box" SAL

I am working on my Winter Box SAL a few hours at a time because these are done with tiny stitches and my eyes get tired quickly. So far, I have done the lid and side 1. I am working on side 2 of the lid. I am stitching the "Winter Box" with the Victoria Sampler group. Shay is the teacher to help us with any problems and to encourage us to finish our project. The fabric is linen and there are assortments of threads that comes with the kit. There is a biscornu and scissor fob chart that comes with the kit as well.

Culinary cat on huck tea towel

This is one of Margaret Sherry's Culinary Cats from the Cross Stitchers magazine, Issue # 222. I stitched on Charles Craft's huck tea towel with DMC threads.

progress of "Kokopelli Christmas"

It is almost done... I have 3 more kokopelli left to do on the left side then some backstitching. I am getting excited and it is becoming a fun stitch when I am so close to finishing this design.

Mr. Snowman and Friends (Finished)

I just finished my second Crazy Jan Challenge of the year. This is Mr. Snowman and Friends made into an ornament. I stitched on 28ct. evenweave with DMC threads.

Friendship potholder

I have finished one of my Crazy Jan Challenge on the list The Friendship potholder for my partner. I stitched a bias tape around the stitched panel and then stitched onto a pre-made potholder for an exchange. This is my first finished for 2011.

Day 15 - "Polar Bear" SanMan

This is the start of the "Polar Bear" from the SanMan Originals. It is being stitched on light cream 28ct evenweave.

Day 14 - Meerkat family

The photo on the left is what the design will look like when done. This will be stitched on marbled light green 14ct aida.

The designer is Pollyanna Pickering from the Cross Stitcher 2009 magazine page 52. This will be a challenge for me since it requires about 50 hours of stitching.

Oakhaven Owl finished

I finished the Oakhaven Owl since there will be more coming out each month. 12 different kind of designs each month. This is stitched on light blue 14ct aida. My husband picked out this fabric since he likes contrasting colors.

Day 13 - Oakhaven Owl SAL

I am stitching the Owl from the Oakhaven SAL. This is stitched on 14ct on very light blue Aida. This will be a 12 months project.

Day 12 - Margaret Sherry's cat with cake

This is the beginning of Margaret Sherry's cat design on a huck towel. The design is from The Cross Stitcher #Issue 222. It is a cat with 4 layers cake. I will be stitching 3 of these different cats on 3 huck towels.

Day 11 - Friendship

"Friendship" is stitched on 14 ct aida. This will be made into a potholder when done.

Day 10-"Humble Adobe" HAED

The photo on top is how much I have done so far. I am stitching it on 28 ct, 2 over 2, Laguana evenweave. The photo on the bottom is what it will look like when done. The design is a Heaven and Earth Design by Michele Sayetta.

Day 9 - "Rock the Moon"

The photo on the left is what my design will look like when done. It is called, "Rock the Moon". The designer is Lynn Blaikie. It is being stitched on 14 ct. white aida. I needed a break from stitching on linen and evenweave. I am using DMC threads.

Bear in Tea Cup - Finished

I finished the Bear in Tea Cup and plan to make it into part of a greeting card or a scissor fob eventually. I am now working on Day 9 design.

Day 7 - Bear in Tea Cup

This is kind of blurry for some reason.... I think my hand was shaking. Anyway, this is a Bear in a Tea Cup and the bees are buzzing. It is stitched on 14 ct aida with DMC threads.

It is not completed yet. I think it will be a gift tag for someone's birthday.
